Welcome home Daddy!

So after 10 LONG weeks apart... yesterday it was finally time for us to pick up Paul from the airport! In preparation the kids and I made a big 'Welcome Home Dad!' poster that they could wave at the airport. We also cooked some brownies and got him some lolly jars to take to work with him the next day so he could sugar up and wouldn't fall asleep! The kids were so excited to see their Dad again and Hayden had reached a point where he was getting angry and kept saying "we just need to go get Dad now!" They were so excited with their poster and were jumping around yelling "has he landed yet?" and everyone else around that were also waiting for travellers were laughing at the kids and their excitement! Paul texted at one point and said "We are just about to land - I just flew over the house". When I told the kids what he has texted Hayden cracked up laughing turned to the old lady next to him and said "My Dad just flew over our house - isn't that hilarious!". The lady laughed and said "what a clever Daddy" and then had a conversation with Hayden about the poster they had made. So cute - that child will talk to anyone!

It was nice having Paul home with us last night and it was perfect timing too - I have been a little jumpy at nights without Paul here and last night there was a MASSIVE storm with loud cracks of thunder and lightning that lit up the room! Anyone that knows me knows how much I HATE storms! They terrify me and always have. I remember once when I was a kid there was a massive storm and I was so scared I made my entire family sleep in the lounge room so I could make sure we were all together and safe incase the roof blew off or the windows shattered. I remember my Mum and Dad looking tired the next day and Mum saying to me "well you slept soundly on the couch but no one else got any sleep!". What a great family! So last night it was Paul's turn to comfort me - even though he was sound asleep from exhaustion and flying for so long - it was nice just knowing he was here to protect us and look after us! I would have been a wreck had he not been here! Nice to have you home honey! Don't leave EVER AGAIN! : )
