Dinner with the Wynders!

Paul has always spoken about his buddy Kent from his mission. I have heard so many stories about him that before I even met him I felt like I knew him! The Wynders live in Cardston which isn't too far from Keith and Mandy. We were invited over so Paul and Kent could catch up and the rest of the family could meet each other. Kent is married to Kristi who I hit it off with immediately! She is crazy, out going and super fun! You know you're going to be great friends with someone when you fail to watch a movie cause you were too busy talking that you forgot to press play! Kent and kristi also have three gorgeous boys. Haydn (named after the same person as our Hayden), Brody and Tyson. Our kids got along well by the end - although they had a rough start. Poor Brody was wearing boxing gloves and came over to Hayden pretending like he was going to fight him... of course our slightly psychotic child then took this as a threat and walloped him one with a toy sword! Poor Brody had no idea what was going on and came crying up stairs to Kristi. We knew immediately it was Hayden. After a time out and an apology the two ran off and played like best friends! Kids huh!

Hayden was in dress up heaven! He loves the ninja turtles right now and was elated to find a Leonardo costume! He proceeded to try it on and show us some sword moves! He also loved the frankenstein mask and would jump out and try scare people. Emma was a little more quiet and just did her own thing. i think she my have had a little crush on Haydn - especially after he showed us his mad drumming skills! He is amazing! Haydn was also a little taken with Emma though after she showed her talent and backflipped down the room!

After a yummy meal we headed over to the high school where Kent teaches. This was awesome! Private access to a massive hall and every kind of sports equipment you could imagine! Emma proceeded to get out all the gym mats and worked on her acro skills while Hayden and the boys ran around throwing gym balls, basket balls and basically any other ball they could find at each others heads! Paul and Kent played around and shot hoops and then at the end all the kids and the 'big boys' played around with the lacrosse gear.

We also went and checked out Kent's classroom and watched Brody do the cutest Michael Jackson impersonation with his sparkly hat and glove! It was classic! Haydn and Emma did some math on the white boards and Hayden and Brody just played around.

Tyson is the cutest baby in the world! He is such a good baby too - he barely cried! I definitely got my baby fix and cuddled him every opportunity I had! I miss him already and it was only my first time meeting him. He made me want a baby of my own. I am not going to have one - but definitely look forward to more Tyson cuddles when they come down to visit!

The night was going perfectly until drama struck. Hayden is known for having some dodgy lungs and gets croup quite easy. The problem is - it hits so quickly and without warning. All of a sudden Paul notices that he is wheezing. As the night progresses it gets worse and worse. He started with the horse cough as well. We were a little concerned because we were in Canada and knew going to a hospital would cost a fortune and we were also meant to be leaving the kids with Liz and heading to Banff the next day. Without being checked out I knew I couldn't leave him so we were stressing about what to do.

Luckily Kent's Mum is a nurse at the local hospital and came over to check Hayden out. She had a listen to his chest but without her equipment she couldn't tell how serious it was. She was so nice and went off to the hospital to get her gear and was able to check Hayden out properly. He was definitely sounding croupy and she could hear it on his lungs. Luckily she was amazing enough to get us a puffer and some ventalin from the hospital so we could open his airway without him having to be seen by someone (it would have cost $500 without any fees for medication). Just before she was about to leave we heard Hayden crying down stairs. I went down to check on him and found that he had accidentally hit himself in the face with a toy gun and had put his two bottom teeth through his lip! He was bleeding from both sides and feeling sorry for himself. It wasn't too bad but he didn't calm down until he had a mario band-aid put on it! It looked ridiculous but at least it made him feel a bit better. The poor dear had a bit of a rough night!

We absolutely loved hanging out with the Wynders and can't wait for them to come and visit us in Utah in April!
