Our little man!

This is a blog post about my gorgeous little man Hayden. I want to add some of my favourite pictures of him and talk a little bit about him and why he is so special to us!

From day one Hayden has been a challenge but also a great joy. One of the most distinct features Hayden has is his cheeky grin! EVERYONE comments on it! Majority of his teachers have always told us that Hayden can be challenging and often gets in trouble - but doesn't stay in trouble long because of his signature grin. In their words "How can you stay angry at someone who looks that cute!"

Hayden also has random strangers tell him how handsome he is. At Walmart just recently a lady dropped some money. Hayden grabbed it and ran after her to give it back. She took one look at him and told him he could keep it. She then said "Has anyone told you how handsome you are?" Hayden rolled his eyes, flashed a smile and said "no". So she proceeded to tell him what a cute little boy he is and how good looking he will be when he is older. Hayden wasn't overly excited by this conversation but was pretty stoked that he got to keep the money!

It seems that people like to reward our children with money here. A man at Denny's followed me out to the car park the other day and asked if the kids have piggy banks. I replied yes they do. He promptly took out some money and handed it to each of the kids and said they could have it for their piggy banks. He then turned to me and said that he only gets to see his grandkids once or twice a year and how he enjoyed watching out kids laugh and play with each other. He was such a nice man and the kids were so excited!

Hayden has recently purchased some book of mormon characters from Deseret Books. These are the only toys he is allowed to bring to church with him. He loves them. He uses such imagination when he plays with them and loves hearing Paul tell him the stories from the Book of Mormon and relating them to his toys. A couple of sundays ago a little boy was sitting in the pew behind us so Hayden asked if he wanted to come play with his toys and promptly starting telling the little boy which ones were goodies and which ones were the bad guys etc. It was so cute to hear him recount the stories he had heard to someone else. Even if the little boy was only about 2!

Hayden has such a loving spirit and is always the first one in our family to give someone a kiss or say I love you. He adores Emma so much and counts down the time until she gets home from school so he can play with her. it is the cutest thing to see! He also had a really cute conversation in the car with Paul a while ago about her. He said "Dad - please don't tell Emma off or get angry at her when she is naughty" when Paul enquired as to why he replied with "cause I love her and it makes me sad when she cries - but don't tell her I said that". He swore Paul to secrecy and then continued on as though the conversation had never happened. He is such a sweet heart!

One thing everyone knows about Hayden is that he LOVES firemen. He has for such a long time and it is something I don't think he is going to grow out of for a long time... if ever! He gets so excited when he sees a fire truck or even drives past the fire station. He always wants to go and visit the station and talk to the firemen and nearly died when he saw a fire house bunk bed at the shops! It is one thing about Hayden that we all know and love. If anyone sees a fire truck they immediately say "Hayden look out your window". It isn't uncommon though for Hayden to spot them first and scream out "FIRE TRUCK!" which makes everyone else in the car jump!

I love and adore Hayden. He can - like all children - be a challenge but I wouldn't change his little personality one bit! He is so caring and loving and such a funny little guy - he has me in fits of laughter all the time. I am so glad he is a part of our family : )
