Our Family recently went on a holiday to Melbourne. We decided it would be fun to drive to Thredbo and stay for a few days to enjoy the snow and pick up some new skills on the hills. The drive was long but luckily the kids had dvd players to keep them entertained. The drive took about seven hours and on the way we saw many different animals - kangaroos, emu's, wombat's and even a deer!

We booked the kids in for skiing lessons at Thredbo Land and they loved it! One and a half days full of skiing, playing, good food and making new friends! The kids both loved having skiing lessons and picked it up really fast... with in no time they were speeding down the hills giving Mum a heart attack!

Paul and I also booked in for some snowboarding lessons! We both got off to a good start but that's about where my ability stopped! let's just say I had a very sore backside for a few days because I couldn't seem to make it down the hill without falling on it at least ten times! Paul was a superstar and picked it up really fast! Our instructor was really impressed and started to teach him harder things than the basics you would usually be taught - within a few hours Paul was tearing it up and looking like a pro!

The second day of lessons I took a huge stack and decided snowboarding probably wasn't my thing - so I decided to become the photographer and let the talented members of my family do the skiing and boarding! It was fun to watch how well they all did and how good they all looked in the snow!

During the trip we had the opportunity to meet Stuart Diver - the man who survived for three days in the Thredbo avalanche disaster! Stuart is still in Thredbo and runs all of the skiing and snowboarding lessons. We thought this was a great photo opportunity so snapped one at the bottom of the hill.

The trip was a blast and aside from the snow we also got a chance to visit the Thredbo leisure centre. We were the only people in the entire place so the kids got the water slide all to themselves whilst Paul and I swam laps of the olympic sized pool. We also spent many nights playing board games, watching movies and going out to dinner!

It was a trip to remember and everyone had fun!
