Birthday weekend in Vegas

As you would of have read in one of my previous posts, I was surprised with a ticket down to Vegas to meet Sarah, Jess and Stephen for the last couple of days on their American road trip. I flew out on the Friday, spent that night and Saturday exploring Vegas and The Hoover Dam with them and then on the Sunday we jumped in the car to drive home, stopping along the way in Zions National Park. It was a lot of fun!

Las Vegas
Vegas is one of my favorite places to visit and I always love being there with people who haven't been before. This trip I actually got to experience a few things I haven't done before as well! We ziplined across the strip with Voodoo Ziplines, saw a million dollars in cash on display in one of the casinos and we also went to the Freemont Street Experience. I really liked Freemont Street. It reminds me of what I imagined Vegas to be like years ago and was far less crowded. I even bought a piece of art work from an amazing street artist who created the entire piece with spray paint. You can see the piece and the video of it being made on my instagram. We also went to circus circus for a few hours and rode some rides in the adventure dome. I love rides - so circus circus is always fun! Add in walking the strip, some fun at the casino and some yummy food stops and you've got one fun trip to Vegas!

Hoover Dam
The Hoover Dam was incredible. It's hard to imagine that a structure as big and vast as that could be hand built. It isn't surprising to see the number of memorials around for the people who lost their lives in the process - it was not easy. The final result however is amazing.

Zions National Park
I have lived in Utah for nearly five years but had never had the chance to make it to Zions. Everyone always tells me its amazing so I was excited to finally get the chance to go! It didn't disappoint. The scenery seemed to change with every stop on the bus and the views were always incredible. At the very last stop along the tour Sarah and I were able to wade through a flowing river to a large rock in the middle for a photo op. It was refreshing and helped cool us down after a lot of hiking and sun! Zions was beautiful and I would love to go back and see some more of what Mother Nature has to offer!

Thanks again for such a generous birthday gift Sarah, Jess and Stevie. I had fun with you all and I'm glad that I got to spend that time and those experiences with you! : )
