You only turn two once right? So why not do it in style with a big birthday bash! We decided a rainbow theme would be perfect for the girls as it's bright, happy and a fun way to bring lots of color into any party! We started with the invitations. These are them - we love how they turned out!
We decided to get the girls some rainbow tutus to wear for the big day. They LOVE to dress up in tutus and frilly dresses so when Paul found these beauties on amazon we just had to get them! The girls wore them almost everyday leading up to their party and wear them almost daily now that the party is over! They are the go to item when we have our dancing time! We also got them some rainbow accessories and a tank top. They looked adorable on the day and everyone loved the tutus - quite the hit!
Our food and decorations were all rainbow themed or colored to match the theme of the party. We had rainbow jelly cups, rainbow mini cheesecakes, rainbow fruit skewers, rainbow veggie platter and a big rainbow candy buffet (as well as some non rainbow items like chicken strips, mini quiches, sausage rolls and dips). Paul saw an idea on Pinterest to label the different candy for the buffet with funny names that match the theme - so instead of skittles we had 'care bear noses' and the mike n ikes were 'unicorn horns' etc. Emma was excited to help come up with the names and was actually pretty creative with them!
Paul was in charge of the party favors and did such a great job! He got each child an individual colored mini bucket and then filled it with candy, treats and toys that matched their assigned colors. We lined them all up on a table in rainbow colors and they looked so cool! The kids were excited to find the bucket with their name on it and take them home at the end! Way to go Pauly!
Lastly we decided that any two year old party needs a jumping castle (or bounce house as they call them here). We got a rainbow colored castle with three slides coming off of it and it was a hit. Between the swing set, castle and trampoline the kids had plenty to keep them entertained while the adults mingled. Once everyone had left the girls went back into the castle and Paul had an idea to use the bubble gun to fill it with bubbles while they jumped! They had an absolute blast jumping around popping bubbles! It was definitely a hit with the girls and wore them out nicely so they slept like logs that night!
Over all it was such a great day. Great friends and neighbors helped us celebrate and we couldn't be more grateful for the relationships we have with these amazing people. It makes being away from home a little bit easier. Thanks to all who came and helped us celebrate! : )
